With a population of around 1459 people, Heyfield is located approximately 206 kilometeres East of Melbourne and is an easy 3 hour drive. It sits on the banks of the magnificent Thomson river and is the gateway to the Alpine National Park and the Victorian High Country.

It's main industries are tourism, agriculture and timber production. It is home to Australian Sustainable Hardwoods Pty Ltd, the largest timber mill in the Southern Hemisphere. Heyfield has much to experience and is in the perfect position to allow visitors maximum access and enjoyment to all Heyfield and the surrounding areas have to offer.

You can fill your prescription, post your mail and even do your banking all on a Saturday morning!

Heyfield Wetlands Information Centre is not to be missed with scenic walks, birdlife to spot, ducks to feed, information on all there is to see and do and local art and craft to purchase. Heyfield boasts a magnificent Apex Park right in the centre of town with a stunning playground to amuse the kids, free undercover BBQ area, toilets, and heaps of room to relax, all surrounded by beautiful trees and gardens.

The Gippsland Plains Rail Trail runs through Heyfield and past the Timber Workers Memorial. Cool off at the Heyfield Memorial Pool on a hot summers day.

Just a few minutes out of town is the Blores Hill Mountain Bike Park that attracts riders from all over the country! One of the best beginner courses in Australia, it also offers sweeping corners, technical downhills and amazing views for all abilities.
